Abstract

Purpose- To report a rare complication of occlusive vasculitis after an uneventful surgery for optic disc(OD) pit maculopathy with scleral graft in 2 cases. Methods:Both cases underwent autologous scleral graft for optic disc pit maculopathy through 25G pars plana vitrectomy. Scleral graft harvested from patient’s same eye from superonasal area and plugged in the OD pit using forceps.
Results: Post operative period of 3 month both patients developed features of occlusive vasculitis with vitreous base contraction Patients were evaluated using FFA and extensive uveitic workup which did not reveal any association to vasculitis. Both patients were treated with topical and systemic steroids and responded well without any recurrence of vasculitis till last visit
Conclusion: Scleral graft used to plug optic disc pit could be a causative factor inciting an inflammation in both of our patients. Pt undergoing scleral graft for optic disc pit maculopathy could develop occlusive vasculitis.
