Abstract

Study Design:
This is a retrospective and descriptive case study based on data from clinical records, patient observation and analysis of diagnostic tests and management options.
Purpose:
To report a short series of two cases of middle-aged women presenting with bilateral serous retinal detachments.
Method:
Patients presented with multiple serous detachments. FFA- multiple pinpoint leaks, OCT- serous detachment with septae, choroidal thickening. Both patients received I.V. Methylprednisolone (1gm) for three days followed by posterior sub-tenon’s triamcinolone acetonide 40mg. Oral Azathioprine given for six months.
Results:
In both patients, vision improved to 6/6 in 3 months with complete resorption of subretinal fluid and normal retinal and choroidal thickness. In case-1 IOP was normal throughout. In case-2 IOP was raised but maintained within normal limits by topical Dorzolamide and Timolol.
Conclusion:
A Peribulbar depot steroid avoiding systemic use prevents side effects.
