Abstract

Study design -It is an observational study .Purpose of study-To enhance the surgical skills,to maximise the learning,to make PGs confident and to increase the safety profile of the operated patients by guiding the PGs in a proper way.Methods-101 patients with cataract surgery were selected for the study. Preoperatively patients were evaluated .Related surgical videos were shown to PGs day before surgery and discussed the steps. Intra operatively surgeries were monitored by senior surgeon and if there were any complication it was taken over by the senior surgeon. Post operatively their own surgical videos were shown and discussed.Results-intraoperative complications were 10,5, 3 respectively,post op complications were 3,2,1 ,average time taken 45,30 and 20 mins in 1st,2nd and 3rd month.Number of assisted surgeries decreased over time.Conclusion-Video assisted learning, pre operative planning, senior guidance are the key factors to do safe cataract surgery in case of post graduates.
