Abstract

Study Design:
This was a prospective observational study conducted in a tertiary care hospital in Amravati
Purpose: To determine the incidence of ROP in a tertiary care hospital in Amravati.
Methodology:
600 infants with birth weight ≤ 2000 gm, gestational age ≤ 34 weeks and > 34 weeks with risk factors were screened . A detailed fundus examination was conducted and rop was graded according to ICROP classification followed by statistical analysis .
Results:
The mean birth weight was 1.63 Kgs .There were (352)58.67% infants with ROP and O2 supplementation was administered to them.Incidence was (stageI)16.6%, (stageII)20% ,(stage III) 18.6%and 3%(APROP)respectively.
Conclusion:
Rigorous adherence to screening protocols is crucial for early intervention to prevent complications of rop in neonates.
