Abstract
Design: Retrospective Case series
Purpose: To report 2 cases, recently operated for cataract and had good unaided visual acuity at post-op 1 week. At 1 month follow up, presented with a history of trauma, sustained injury to the operated eye and developed sudden vision loss.
Method: On clinical evaluation both the patients had visual acuity of HM+. On evaluation there was AC reaction. Iris tissue was noted to be damaged/absent (aniridia) as well as IOL was not seen in the position. On fundus evaluation, Vitreous hemorrhage was noted. B scan was suggestive of an attached retina. High echo-reflectivity was suggestive of dislocated IOL in the vitreous cavity in 1 patient and sub-conjunctival in another. Planned for IOL explantation/removal along with PPV and SFIOL.
Result: Patient underwent planned surgical intervention in single sitting and achieved good best corrected visual acuity at post-op 1 month.
Conclusion: Timely intervention can improve functional outcome.
