Abstract
Study Design: Prospective Double-blinded Parallel Armed Randomised Control Trial
Purpose:
To investigate and compare the safety and efficacy of topical Cyclosporin A (0.05%) with topical Tacrolimus (0.03%) in moderate to severe Dry Eye patients.
Methods:
150 patients of moderate to severe DED were randomized into 2 Groups of 75 each with Group A and B recieving Cyclosporine and Tacrolimus. Evaluateion at day 0, 30, 60, 90, and 180 for OSDI, TBUT, NEI score, Schirmer I test score
Results:
The mean value of OSDI decrease was 38.25 ± 18.29% vs 31.69 ± 18.57%, increase in Schirmer I were 4.91 ± 2.32 and 5.03 ± 2.00, increase in TBUT score were 4.05 ±1.60 and 6.03 ± 1.04, decrease in NEI score 3.02 ± 0.03 and 4.67 ± 1.20 in eyes treated with cyclosporine and tacrolimus respectively.
Conclusion:
Improvement was noted in both groups after 6 months of treatment. But there is no difference in improvement in cases of OSDI and Visual acuity while comparing with both groups.
