FP3018 : Retrospective analysis of scleral tear repair for MSICS wound dehiscence

Abstract

Retrospective study. Purpose: To study the reasons and profile of patients who underwent scleral repair for Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) wound dehiscence. Methods: The patients presenting with a SICS wound dehiscence in the year 2020 and 2021 were included in the study and relevant data was evaluated. Results: Over these 2 years, 79 patients had SICS wound dehiscence post trauma, of which 40.5% were more than 70 yrs, 51.9% were females. 87.3% patients presented within 1 week of injury to the hospital. 43% had history of external blunt trauma, 22.8% had cattle/ animal injury, 19% had self- fall or injury. 30% patients had IOL dislocation post trauma, but in 24 % IOL was stable, 21.5% IOL status was inaccessible. 74.7% patients had severe dehiscence. 70.9% had vitreous haemorrhage while 27.8% underwent VR surgery. 64.6% patients were aphakic post trauma.
