Abstract

AIM : to determine the effect of TB Meningitis on eye and to check the progression of disease and discuss outcomes.
METHOD : A Case series of 16 patients was done on pediatric and adults with TBM out of which 8 were children (<15years) and 8 adults (>15 years) . Patients were Observed and followed up for development of ocular sequelae . All patients were examined and followed up for Visual Acuity, color vision, ocular examination, extraocular movements, Fundus findings, visual field changes, CSF results, CT findings. Follow up done at 4 &12 weeks
RESULTS : out of 8 pediatric patients 5 were affected with LR palsy alongwith papilledema. Out of 8 adult patients 4 came with visual deficit along with papilledema.
CONCLUSION : TBM is associated with a range of ocular manifestations. Papilledema and LR palsy were more evidently found in the study and suggested that it is both life threatening and vision threatening if not dealt with timely and appropriate intervention.
