Abstract
Study design
Retrospective descriptive study(2021-2022)
Purpose
To study outcomes of adjuvant plaque in cases of invasive ocular surface squamous neoplasia(OSSN)
Methods
The study includes 8 eyes of 8 patients who had histopathologically proven squamous cell carcinoma with scleral invasion. Six cases had additional corneal involvement. Dome shaped, CCA 2540 Ru 106 was used delivering 60Gy to a depth of 2mm for adjuvant treatment.
Results
complete regression of the tumour and vessels with complete epithelisation of conjunctiva was seen in all cases. There was no tumour regrowth, residue or radiation complications over a mean follow up of 1 year. Eye and life salvage with stable or improved visual acuity was achieved in all cases.
Conclusion
Ru 106 is a safe and effective treatment modality for OSSN with good outcomes. simple usage along with targeted radiation at tumour apex without much collateral damage makes it safe and cost effective.
