Abstract
Our study evaluated the association between DRIL and the postoperative BCVA in PDR eyes that required vitrectomy. Fifty three eyes of 53 patients who underwent vitrectomy for proliferative diabetic retinopathy were recruited retrospectively from the patient registry of Bejan Singh eye hospital. The most common indication for surgery was found to be vitreous hemorrhage(37.7%). We observed that the mean distance BCVA was better in eyes without DRIL when compared with eyes with DRIL and the difference was found to be statistically significant on t test (p <0.001). The presence of DRIL, correlated negatively with VA . The eyes with DRIL 500 μm or longer were associated with worse VA .
