Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of implantation of long arc segments (360 degree) of Corneal Allogenic Intrastromal Ring Segments in the management of patients with advanced keratoconus
Methods: This retrospective, non-randomized, interventional case series consisted of 10 eyes of 9 patients with advanced keratoconus who had undergone implantation of allogenic corneal ring segments, with long arc length sizes, followed by accelerated corneal collagen cross linking.
Results: The mean age of patents included in the study was 24.6 ± 2.4 years with a mean follow-up duration of 11 ± 5.2 months. Significant improvement was seen in uncorrected and best corrected distance visual acuity. Average and steepest keratometry, anterior and posterior elevation reduced significantly.
Conclusion: This study demonstrated that implantation of corneal allogenic intrastromal ring segments is an effective way of providing good visual recovery to patients with keratoconus.
