Abstract

Methods: Retrospective study in 50 eyes of 50 glaucoma patients with significant corneal astigmatism and cataract. All patients underwent the above mentioned combined procedure under local anaesthesia by a single surgeon.The main outcome measures were BCVA,residual refractive cylinder,spherical equivalent,IOP and number of antiglaucoma medications.
Results: Mean age was 70.5±9.9 years. Male:female ratio was 3:2. 90% of the IOLs used were Acrysof toric, 6% Vivity toric, 2% Technis toric and Clareon toric each. The mean postoperative spherical equivalent is -0.125±0.42. Mean logMAR BCVA improved from 0.51±0.59 to 0.17±0.31 at 6 weeks post-operative(P<0.0005).The mean refractive cylinder improved from 1.65±0.73 to 0.32±0.58 at 6 weeks post-operative(P<0.0001). The mean IOP reduced from 16.62±6.10 mmHg to 13.86±4.05mmHg at 1 month post-operative(P<0.009).
Conclusion: Toric IOL implantation has got good results in patients who are undergoing combined Phacoemulsification and Trabeculectomy.
