Abstract

Design- Retrospective
Purpose- To report visual outcomes with Phakic IOL(PIOL) in compound myopia (horizontal 11.2mm and below)
Methods- In this study patients data was evaluated for pre and post op manifest SE, Cylinder, ACD, ACA, vault and UDVA. WTW was measured with digital calibers for all patients.
Results-13 eyes of 7 patients included in this study had spherical lens with minmum follow up of 12 months. Mean SE and cylinder in our study was 11.53 ± 4.32 and 2.09± 0.41Mean change in SE and UDVA pre and post pIOL was significant (P<0.05). Mean UDVA was LogMar 0.23 ± 0.09 and all patients had satisfactory binocular vision. There was no statistically significant change in pre and post op ACD and ACA. Optimal vault achieved in all cases. None of the patients had any post operative complications.
Conclusion-Satisfactory visual outcomes can be achieved with spherical PIOLs in small WTW eyes instead of toric PIOLs to prevent rotations and misalignments.
