Abstract
Purpose: To evaluate efficacy of a novel dichoptic digital therapy vs ocular patching & combined approach for amblyopia treatment
Methods: This randomized clinical study involved 90 patients equally divided into 3 groups:- group 1(Bynocs therapy), Group 2(patching treatment)& Group 3(combined Bynocs & patching). Patients were evaluated at 1,3,6& 12 months, assessing BCVA, Lines Improved in Amblyopic eye(LIAE), stereopsis& contrast sensitivity
Result: BCVA was better in group3(94.6%)compared to group2 (76.2%)& group1(88.7%) at the end of 1 year. LIAE was significant in group3 as compared to both group1&2(p<0.003), with no difference between group 1&2(p=0.04). No difference(p=0.176) was noted in fine stereopsis improvement between Group1&2. Group3 demonstrated significant Contrast sensitivity improvement compared to group1&2(p<0.001)
Conclusion: Both treatments improved vision, but combined dichoptic &patching therapy enhanced vision, accommodation & suppression was better treated
