FP2650 : A study to evaluate predictors of visual recovery after surgery in rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

Abstract

Design-Retrospective evaluation of medical records of patients with RRD having undergone surgery from March to April '23
Purpose-To determine the factors that influence the optimal postoperative visual acuity in patients who have undergone surgery for <15 days of symptoms of RRD
Methods-The primary outcome measure was percentage change in visual acuity, 6 weeks after the surgery. The duration of central vision impairment prior to surgery, surgical approach & number of breaks to identify predictors of visual improvement after surgery
Results:53 met the inclusion criteria showed that mean Pre operative LogMAR VA in Patients having duration onset of symptoms and date of surgery who were operated within 3 days had a 80% increase from preoperative VA, while between 4 to 7 days had a 24% increase. Those having duration between 7-14 days & >14 days had a 17% increase & 12% increase in VA (p=0.03)
Age of patient did not correlate with the VA
Number of breaks have a marginal effect on postop VA
