Abstract
An interesting case of a 70 year old female patient who presented with history of slowly enlarging mass in the area of lacrimal sac for a duration of 5 years is being presented here. On examination there was a large mass in the area of lacrimal sac, soft to cystic in consistency. Anterior segment examination showed presence of senile immature cataract in both the eyes & rest of the examination was within normal limits. Lacrimal syringing showed partial regurgitation. ENT examination was within normal limits. CT scan showed well demarcated mass lesion in the lacrimal sac area. A diagnosis of lacrimal mucocele was made patient taken for surgery. Intraoperatively there was excessive bleeding noticed & thorough electrocautery was done. The Lacrimal sac was carefully excised & the specimen was sent for histopathological examination. HPE reports showed presence of spores of Rhinosporium Seeberi thereby changing the diagnosis to oculosporidiasis of lacrimal sac.
