Abstract

•To study the role, safety and ocular side effects of topical interferon in treatment of macular edema.
•To device an alternative therapeutic option in treatment of macular edema which is effective,non-invasive,economical .
Each patient was followed up every 1 week for 1st 4 weeks and later for every 2 weeks using OCT until edema resolved.In a prospective interventional study, mean age of patients were 50±10 years.Out of 9 patients who were given the eyedrop 2 patients of uveitic macular edema showed complete resolution in a span of 2 months,3 patients of Diabetic macular edem 2 of which showed marked improvement in edema in 30-45 days whereas 1 patient did not show any improvement in macular edema. 1 patient of CSR showed complete resolution in 15 days.1 patient of pseudophakic macular edema showed marked improvement in 1st 15 days of therapy but later developed macular haemorrhage after 3o days.2 patients were loss to follow up .
