FP2464 : Endothelial cell changes & visual outcome in intratunnel phacofracture & nucleus delivery in toto.

Abstract

STUDYDESIGN: Prospective interventional randomized study.
PURPOSE: To compare intratunnel phacofracture with nucleus delivery in toto with reference to change in endothelial cell changes&visual outcome.
METHODS:The study was conducted in tertiary care hospital from Jan to Oct 2023 .The comprised of 200 cases with grade 3&4 Nuclear sclerosis.Patients underwent complete ocular examination and specular microscopy. Patients were divided into two groups in which intratunnel phacofracture and nucleus delivery by toto was done respectively in MSICS. All surgeries were performed by one surgeon and patients were followed for 6 weeks.
RESULTS:The mean difference of visual acuity, mean cell loss ,central corneal thickness, coefficient of variation and mean hexagonality from baseline to 2 weeks and 6 weeks was statistically significant.(p<0.05).

CONCLUSION: Intratunnel phacofracture is a better technique with regards to visual outcome & change in endothelial cell parameters.
