Abstract
AIM- to assess clinical outcome of glaucoma drainage devices(GDDs) in terms of surgical success(complete and qualified) and failure in patients with refractory glaucoma
Method- a total of 15 pts were included. Documentation of each patient was made at visits on POD 1, wk,1,3 & 6 months. Bcva, iop on AT, ant and post segment examination, post op complications and number of pre and post op AGM,
Results- out of 15, 11 were males & 4 were females. Max pts were above 60 yrs of age f/b 40-60 yr f/b less than 20 year age group.Majority were secondary glaucoma cases- post vr surgery(5), post opk(2), steroid induced(1), ICE(1), 5 had POAG, 1 each of congenital and developmental glaucoma. Complete success was achieved in 5 cases, whereas qualified success was achieved in 8 cases, failure was reported in 2 cases.
Conclusion :The success rate of GDDs is high after surgery with iop levels that are relatively steady and remain in the mid teens with 1 or 2 agms.
