FP2405 : A case of neuroretinitis due to retrobulbar optic neuritis

Abstract

A 37 year old male came with complaints of defective vision in right eye for past 10days. Known case of seizure disorder since 8 years on regular treatment. Known case of LMN facial palsy since 8 years and recovered. Ocular examination visual acuity right eye 6/18p left eye 6/6 , colour vision RE defective . field of vision normal at present. On Anterior segment examination, RE RAPD. Fundus RE shows blurring of disc margin and macular star noted, confirmed by OCT. B-Scan RE normal. Blood investigation shows negative viral markers, VDRL Negative, ESR – 5mm, Mantoux test shows 8mm induration after 48hours. LFT normal. RFT mild decrease in renal function. MRI BRAIN shows right retrobulbar optic neuritis with left LMN facial neuritis. CT ORBIT and PNS Normal. CT thorax suggestive of Old PTB. Dental- no septic foci. A case suggestive of neuroretinitis due to retrobulbar optic neuritis and it is treated with IV methyl prednisolone which have improved vision .
