FP2395 : An unexpected visual outcome in case of open globe injury: A case report

Purpose- Effect of early intervention in open globe injury

Method- 17 year old male came with complain of pain and sudden loss of vision after trauma to right eye by sharp object. On examination eye soft, vision HM+,PL+PR+ full thickness horizontal, sharp linear, laceration present in cornea from 4-8 0' clock extending up to 7 mm in sclera temporally with iris and ciliay body prolapse. AC shallow, blood and vitreous present. He undergone blood investigation with X-Ray head and orbit and shifted to emergency OT where meticulous exploration was done to see extent of tear then suture applied, BCL placed. Patient was put on antibiotics and analgesics.

Result – Inspite of having Zone III ocular injury and category 2 trauma score this patient had exceptionally good visual outcome.

Conclusion – It is important to identify mode and extent of open globe injury and immediate management should be done. Timely intervention is necessary to reduce visual morbidity.
