FP2324 : A rare case of FAMILIAL EXUDATIVE VITREORETINOPATHY in a child.

Abstract

Familial exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) is a hereditary vitreoretinal disorder found in full term infants and is characterised by avascularity of peripheral retina. Here, we present a rare case of 3 year old boy who presented with outward deviation of right eye which remained unnoticed for 3 years. He was born full term by spontaneous vaginal delivery to a 24 year old woman who had an uncomplicated pregnancy. No oxygen had been administered during neonatal period. On ocular examination, his best corrected visual acuity was 6/36 in right eye and 6/6 in left eye.Fundus examination of right eye showed disc pallor, retinal folds, fibrosed and scarred retina was seen. On USG B scan of right eye, retina attached, hyperreflective lesion with homogenous reflectivity- fibrotic lesion. On the basis of fundus findings and clinical correlation, provisional diagnosis of FEVR was made and he was referred for fundus fluorescein angiography to confirm the diagnosis.
