Abstract
A single centre retrospective study of 16 eyes with persistent large macular hole 2-4 weeks post primary surgery were included. All patients underwent autologous neurosensory graft with tamponade – either silicone oil (SO) or gas. SO was used in -14 eyes & C3F8 gas in 2 eyes. Preop mean BCVA was 1.50±0.93 log mar, & at 1st & 6th month followup it was 1.06±0.62 (p=0.02) & 0.94±0.58 (p=0.004) respectively which was statistically sinificant.10(62.5%)eyes had improvement in BCVA, remaining 6 eyes(37.5%) had no change in BCVA. Mean preoperative BLD was 1154.80±521.83, & MLD was 850.20±386.5. All patients had type 1 closure postop. OCT parameters like type of closure, BLD, MLD, integrity of outer retinal layers (ORL) & relationship of these parameters with BCVA were analysed. 100% anatomical closure rate and 62.5% functional outcome rate was noted. The integrity of the outer retinal layers made better connections with visual acuity gain than compared with eyes having disruption of ORL.
