Abstract
Study Design- Case report
Purpose- To study the case of aniridia and its systemic association.
Methods – A 2 year old male child was brought to Ophthalmology OPD by his parents with complaints of diminision of vision in both eyes since birth. They also complained of white spot in both eyes since birth&unable to speak even after 2 years. On examination,child fixates to light.Gaze invoked nystagmus is present.The right corneal diameter is 6.4 mm and left eye has 8.5mm. left eye cornea was hazy. Both eyes had aniridia and zonular cataract. On general physical examination delayed language milestone noted. 2D echo examination had mild mitral valve regurgitation.Normal hearing sensitivity in BERA examination.On cbc microcytic hypochromic anemia with relative lymphocytosis is present.
Results – Bilateral congenital aniridia with zonular cataract and delayed language development with mild MR.
Conclusion- congenital aniridia has ocular&systemic association,so a thorough evaluation is necessary
