Abstract

Study Design: Retrospective Study
Purpose: To study the outcome of surgical removal of PSTA deposits (in
uveitic eyes that had received PSTA) on the raised intraocular pressure (IOP) in
medically uncontrolled steroid responders.
Methods: Data from consecutive patients from January 2021 to
January 2022 . Three eyes of 3
patients were included. IOP at postoperative 1 week,
1 month and the time to IOP normalization after PSTA removal were recorded.
Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the factors for rapid IOP
normalization after PSTA removal.
Results:The drop in IOP at postoperative week 1 ranged from 25 % to 76.19
%. All eyes achieved IOP normalization within a mean of 17.6 days (range, 12
to 25 days) after PSTA removal. No glaucomatous disc damage was
noted in any of the 3 eyes. Mean number of IOP lowering agents decreased
from 4.7 preoperatively to 3 at 1 month post operatively
Conclusion: In medically uncontrolled cases,excision of PSTA plaques provided good IOP control.
