Abstract

Introduction: Phacomorphic glaucoma is the term used for secondary angle closure glaucoma due to lens intumescence. Highly prevalent in developing countries due to late presentation to the hospital. India being a third world country with limited resources, still many patients present with phacomorphic glaucoma with an estimated prevalence of 3.91%.
Case Report: 74 year old female presented with acute onset pain, redness, photophobia and diminution of vision in left eye since 2 days. On examination, her vision in right and left eye was 6/9 and PL+ve, PR accurate on Snellen’s chart. Her corrected IOP on Goldman's applanation tonometry in R/E and L/E was 16 mmHg and 51 mm Hg respectively.
Result: MSICS with PCIOL implantation was performed. POD-7 visual acquity was 6/12 and IOP was reduced to 14mmHg.
Conclusion: MSICS is effective in controlling IOP and achieving good visual acuity with minimal complications in management of phacomorphic glaucoma.
