Abstract
Study Design: Retrospective, Observations, Interventional.
Purpose: During combined VR surgery the placement of trocars prior to phacoemulsification sometimes causes soft eye, while placing trocars after phacoemulsification usually requires suturing of wound. There is a requirement of identifying fast, safer and efficacious technique.
Methods: An idea occurred when after hydro implantation of the IOL, the irrigation port was retained in the anterior chamber and the other hand was used to place trocars. This resulted in smooth entry and avoided previously mentioned complications. Results
Superiority over Existing Technique: N=312. A comparison of 10 random videos of conventional versus the new approach showed better visualization during surgery and lesser requirement of AC reformation. The new approach saved time. Helps in maintaining mydriasis. There is clear media in the absence of pigment release. Overall the total operating time also reduced.
