FP1962 : Visual rehabilitation in crosslinked corneas: Seeing Clearly with Specialty Contact lenses.

Abstract

Study design: This is a cross-sectional observational study.
Purpose: To evaluate visual improvement after contact lens (CL) trial in patients of advanced keratoconus status post corneal crosslinking (CXL).
Methods: Records of all patients who underwent CXL and specialty CL trial post CXL in our institute were reviewed, assessed and analyzed.
Results: A comparative analysis of various contact lenses was performed. Amongst Rigid Gas Permeable, mini-scleral and scleral CL, the mini-scleral CL provided optimum visual rehabilitation in the form of enhanced quality of vision along with improvement in Snellen visual acuity.
Conclusion: Specialty CL proved to be a boon for patients with advanced keratoconus, poor visual prognosis, and unsatisfactory visual outcome with glasses. The study re-instates the gratifying outcomes with specialty CL following CXL in terms of quantity and quality of vision.
