Abstract

Design: Prospective Interventional.
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of 360 degree Goniotomy in Primary Congenital Glaucoma(PCG).
Methods: 52 eyes of 32 patients of PCG were enrolled in this study. 360 degree goniotomy was done on each eye without disturbing the superior conjunctiva. The pre-operative and post-operative intraocular pressure(IOP) and anti-glaucoma medications were recorded at 3,6,9and12 months.
Results:The average age of patients was 1.14±1.04 years. The mean preoperative IOP was 24.52±6.02 mmHg, which reduced to11.03±5.06mmHg(p<0.001),12.08±3.80mmHg(p<0.001),11.63±6.41mmHg(p<0.001),12.55±5.09(p<0.001)at 3,6,9,12 months respectively. The success rate,defined as IOP < 18 mmhg, at 12 months is 88.4%.The mean number of anti-glaucoma medications preoperatively was 2.48±1.03 which reduced to 1.35±1.23(p<0.001)at 12months,with 38.4% free of medications.There was transient hyphema in 10 eyes.
Conclusion:360 degree Goniotomy appears to be a safe and effective surgery for PCG
