FP0193 : Comparing efficacy of Dexamethasone Implant v/s Subtenon Triamcinolone in BRVO, CRVO and Diabetic ME

Abstract

Purpose- To compare efficacy of combined Anti VEGF with either IV 0.7mg Dexamethasone implant(DEX) OR 2mg Subtenon Triamcinolone acetonide(STTA) in BRVO,CRVO & DME. Method- Retrospective non-randomised study of 50 eyes with BRVO(n=21),CRVO(n=12) or DME(n=17) treated with Bevacizumab 0.05ml combined with Gp1: IV0.7mg DEX(n=30) or Gp2:2mg STTA(n=20).BCVA,CMT,IOP done at each visit. Followup=6mth. Results- Increase BCVA(mean log 0.1) seen in both groups. Maximum improvement was in BRVO in STTA gp. CRVO had lowest BCVA improvement in both gps. Significant decrease in CMT on OCT(p=<0.0001) seen in all gps which was maintained upto 6mth followup. Maximum improvement in CMT at 6mth seen in DME in STTA gp. STTA gp had significant increase in IOP(p=0.0008). Conclusion- Both Dexamethasone implant and STTA combined with AntiVEGF show improvement in BCVA and significant decrease in Macular oedema. STTA is able to maintain CMT reduction better at 6mth. IOP rise is significantly higher in STTA gp.
