FP1872 : Comparative Visual Outcomes: Indian Aspheric vs Imported Spheric IOL Post-cataract surgery

Abstract

It is a prospective longitudinal comparative study that aims to evaluate visual outcomes in patients aged 50-80 who will undergo temporal
Phacoemulsification cataract surgery with implantation of three different Intra ocular lens (IOL): Indian aspheric Acriol EC (care group), Imported
spheric Hoya iSert150 and Sensar AAB00.
60 eyes with cataract grade (LOCS 3 Grade 1-3) and astigmatism of less than 1D were included. Patients with co-existing ocular conditions that
impact postoperative visual outcomes were excluded.
Postoperative measurements include BCVA, contrast sensitivity, spherical aberration and coma at 1 week, 1 and 3 months. Questionnaire were given
documenting glare and halos. The analysis of BCVA showed mean differences of 0.010, -0.030, and -0.040. The results indicate insignificant
differences in contrast sensitivity, spherical aberration and coma between the three groups.
In conclusion, the visual performances of the three IOL models are comparable.
