Abstract
Research is an integral part of residency where doing quality thesis work under the guidance of mentors plays an important role in setting the ground for further exploration in the world of publication. Publishing research work is crucial for advancing knowledge and it validates scientific rigour. A Cross sectional analytical study was done to understand & highlight the major hurdles in the journey of converting thesis to publication. A validated questionnaire was administered to residents who have finished their degree from our institute and the results were analysed. Out of the total responses received, 32.5% had published their thesis, 66.7% agreed that lack of time & motivation were significant factors contributing to delay in the process. More than 83.5% needed help with statistical analysis and writing the right conclusion. Conclusively, this study identifies actionable insights, for the mentor as well as the student, and suggests effective ways to increase publication rate.
