FP1810 : CLINICAL SEROLOGICAL & IMAGING CHARECTERISTICS OF OPTIC NEURITIS IN A TERTIARY EYE CARE CENTRE

Abstract

AIM:To correlate the clinical course of optic neuritis(ON) with serology and imaging. Methods:A retrospective observational analysis of patients with ON over 5 yrs,who underwent ocular exam, serology,ocular&neuroimaging.RESULTS:Total44 patients-mean age 32.5 yrs;11patients <18 yrs.Females-70.5%.At presentation:BCVA <6/60-45.5%,impaired colour vision(CV)-81.8% RAPD-97.7%,delayed P2 latency-89.19%&disc edema-65.9%.MRI:T2 hyperntensity in54.54% &demyelination in 20.5%.Serology:MOG Ab+ve-25%& CSF OCB +ve-15.38%.1month post systemic steroids: BCVA >6/12(89.7%), 97.4% improved CV,51.5% persistent RAPD,90.61% ppRNFL thinning, 93.47% mGCL thinning& 41% sectoral optic atrophy CONCLUSION:Majority were young females presenting with visual acuity<6/12.RAPD remained the sensitive indicator of previous attack of ON even after 1 month.Papillitis was the most frequent presentation.MOG +ve ON was more common.mGCL thinning &T2 hyperintensity of optic nerve in MRI were the most common imaging findings.
