Abstract

This study investigates the various causative factors and outcomes of acquired sixth cranial nerve palsy in the Indian population, highlighting the impact of regional and systemic factors on the prevalence & prognosis of this condition.Through a retrospective analysis of 82 patients over a five-year period, research revealed that vascular issues were the predominant cause (49%), followed by trauma (11%) & other less common factors. Furthermore, study established a significant recovery rate & highlighted importance of accurate diagnostic algorithms, emphasizing role of neuroimaging in specific cases.Study's findings indicated that trauma,specifically road traffic accidents, accounted for significant proportion of cases, reflecting the urgent need for improved traffic management & safety measures in the region. Furthermore, research emphasized importance of multidisciplinary approach in managing patients, especially in cases where recovery is prolonged or neurological symptoms persist.
