Abstract
Study design: Retrospective study
Purpose : 1.To study the clinical outcome of strabismus surgery in 5 cases of Acute Acquired Concomitant Esotropia
2.To report the increasing use of smartphone as an important etiology causing the disease.
Methods: it is a retrospective study done in a tertiary eye care center in East India. Patients presenting to the out patient department between January 2023 to September 2023 were included and Their medical record were analyzed. 5 patients were diagnosed to have moderate to large angle AACE (Acute Acquired Concomitant Esotropia). . All these 5 patients had a recent history of sudden increase in the hours of smartphone use. All 5 of them underwent strabismus surgery.
Results : All the 5 patients had normal ocular alignment after the surgery and diplopia was resolved.
Conclusion: strabismus surgery serves as useful method to treat large angle AACE
