FP1259 : cataract surgery in eyes with traumatic subluxated cataract

Abstract

Traumatic cataract is a sight-threatening sequel of trauma. Cataract surgery in these cases is very challenging due to the associated loss of zonules and damage to other intraocular structures. Here we present a series of traumatic cataracts that were managed by the anterior segment approach. Most of the cases were soft cataracts with variable degrees of subluxation. In these cases, early diagnosis, detailed examination, and investigations followed by proper management play an important role in getting a good visual outcome after cataract surgery.
