FP1192 : Initial experience with dichoptic treatment in amblyopia

Abstract

Study design-Prospective observational study
Purpose-To evaluate efficacy of dichoptic therapy in the management of anisometropic amblyopia. Methods-9 children aged >6 years with anisometropic amblyopia were included.After a detailed ocular evaluation dichoptic therapy with BYNOCS was done consisting of sessions of 40 minutes daily,5 times a week.Visual outcome was assessed at 2 weeks,4 weeks and 6 weeks. Results-All the 9 patients showed an improvement in BCVA before and after dichoptic therapy.An improvement in stereopsis was observed in 3 cases which was not significant. Conclusion-As the sample size is small need long term follow up and further assessment is required to correctly asses the efficacy of dichoptic treatment.Dichoptic therapy in ametropic amblyopia is included in the future perspective of the study.
