Abstract

The modified Nishida muscle transposition procedure, in which one-third of the vertical rectus muscle bellies are sutured onto the sclera in the infero- and superotemporal quadrants without either tenotomy of the vertical rectus muscles or splitting of the vertical rectus muscle, is an effective treatment for abducens nerve palsy. We describe our experience in four cases . All patients underwent a modified Nishida muscle transplantation procedure performed on each patient. We did this procedure for double elevator palsy in 3 cases . MR muscle injury post-surgery of functional endoscopic sinus surgery in one case. The procedure yielded good results.
