Abstract

Study design: Prospective, cohort study
Purpose : To study the change in central macular thickness(CMT) after IOL surgery in nondiabetic , diabetics with and without DR
Methods :. Spectralis OCT of 162 patients were recorded preop POD1 month & POD 3month.Patients divided into 3 groups(54 each group) 1) No DM 2) DM without DR and 3)DM with DR
Results : CMT :pre op (No DM – 241.13±29.5 µ, DM without DR 235.70±18.8µ ,DM with DR 269.74±49.0µ( p <0.001), month 1 ((No DM 248.04±30.5 µ, DM without DR 248.96±34.6µ ,DM with DR 310.44±99.4µ(p <0.001), month 3 (No DM 245.19±29.1µ, DM without DR 241.92±18.0µ ,DM with DR 282.38±68.9µ(p<0.001) significant.
Conclusion : Significant increase in change in CMT in the 1st month post op in diabetics with DR when compared to non diabetics and diabetics without retinopathy.
