Abstract

In a retrospective comparative study, 20 patients with idiopathic ERM underwent 25-gauge PPV, including ERM and ILM peeling surgery. 12 eyes received additional Triamcinolone (4 mg/0.01 ml) using an innovative 26 G needle with an intracath sleeve, Suprachoroidal Triamcinolone (SCTA) group while 8 eyes served as controls. Central retinal thickness (CRT), BCVA, and IOP, were assessed at 1 week, 1, 3, and 6 months post-surgery, and analyzed using ANOVA.
Results: At the 3 and 6-month follow-up, the SCTA group exhibited a significant reduction in CRT compared to the control group (p < 0.05). However, these differences did not persist at the 1-week and 1-month follow-up visits (p = 0.77 and p = 0.73, respectively). However, BCVA improved significantly at 3 and 6 months (p value > 0.05). Intraocular pressure (IOP) did not differ significantly at any visit. No significant complications such as elevated IOP, retinal detachment, or perforation were noted.
