FP1560 : A CASE OF UNILATERAL ORBITAL ECHTHYMA GANGRENOSUM PRESENTED AS ORBITAL CELLULITIS.

Abstract

Study design-A case report Purpose-To show atypical case of orbital echthyma gangrenosum Methods – We report a case of orbital Ecthyma gangrenosum in a 12-year-old girl who presented with painless left periorbital swelling since 2 days. It rapidly progressed with black spot over eyelid. The left eye lid was markedly swollen with bluish-black discoloration, and she was unable to open eye. The vision was 6/6. The patient was admitted as a case of left eye orbital cellulitis.She was started on broadspectrum topical and systemic antibiotics.Patient was not responding and size of eschar was increasing.A blood culture was positive for P. aeruginosa.Ointment occupol and normal saline patching was started and patient eventually responded to present status. Result- A case of ecthyma gangrenosum responded to simply broad spectrum topical antibiotic and saline eye patch.Conclusion-Proper clinical history and lab investigation are required to diagnose and treat patient effectively.
