Abstract
Study design: Retrospective study
Aim: To describe the clinical spectrum and outcomes of Ocular/Adnexal Rhinosporidiosis
Methods: 31 eyes of patient who underwent excision of histopathologically proven Rhinosporidium from 2018 to 2022 were included in the study. The location, duration and recurrence of the lesion were noted.
Result: Among 31 patients (mean age 36.1±22.2 years), males were more common (21). The commonest site of involvement was lower lid (38.7%) followed by upper lid (32.25%) and bulbar conjunctiva (19.35%). Lacrimal sac involvement was the least common. 6 eyes (19.35%) had recurrence with mean time interval of 23.4 months. 3 cases involved a different site on recurrence.
Conclusion: Lower lid was the most common site while lacrimal sac was least common. Recurrent infections involved a different site in 3 of 6 patients. Recurrence rate of conjunctival lesion was low following excision even without basal cautery.
