FP1843 : PROLONGED FUNCTIONAL VISION LOSS IN A CASE OF PAEDIATRIC MIGRAINE

Abstract

A case report on migraine associated vision loss.
7yr old male child with c/o blurred vision in OD for 1.5months aggravated in last 2-3days. H/o headache, often triggered by light or sound since last 5months. No h/o seizures or weakness.
O/E BCVA OD 6/24,N18 & OS 6/6,N6. Color vision (Ishihara chart) OD 0/21 OS 21/21. OD had grade1RAPD. OU anterior & posterior segments- WNL.
OU VEP WNL, CEMRI Brain & Orbit had few tiny non-specific cerebral white matter hyper intensities, rest WNL. MRV was WNL. OD vision further deteriorated to FCCF with worsening of headache.
Paediatric neurologist evaluation done after hospital admission followed by psychiatric evaluation & diagnosed as case of Paediatric Migraine with Functional Overlay. Treated with NSAIDS, vitamin supplements & counselling. Headache subsided with OD complete visual recovery.
Conclusion: migraines can cause transient loss of vision & can have associated functional components which need concurrent evaluation.
