FP2362 : Systemic evaluation in patients with central serous choroidopathy: A prospective case-control study

Abstract

Design: Case-control study
Purpose: To assess systemic associations of central serous choroidopathy (CSC) with clinical & biochemical investigations
Methods: 87 CSCR patients (case) and 82 patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (control) were recruited at tertiary eye-care center in North India. Patients underwent ophthalmological examination & systemic evaluation based on history & biochemical investigations. Logistic regression was performed to identify associations of CSC.
Results: The age was similar between cases and controls (36.9±7.8years vs. 35.7±10.8 years, p=0.38). On multivariable analysis, alcohol use, sleep disturbances, dysthyroid state, serum AGR > 2, and serum hemoglobin were significant independent associations. Exogenous steroid use and morning 8 am serum cortisol levels were not significantly different.
Conclusion: Other than alcohol use and sleep disturbances, this study reports new associations of CSC with deranged thyroid hormones and serum proteins.
