FP1469 : UNPREDICTABLE OUTCOMES POST-PHAKIC INTRAOCULAR LENS IMPLANTATION

Abstract

Study Design: Retrospective study
Purpose: Phakic IOL implantation is a viable option for high myopic errors with promising visual outcomes. However, despite meticulous pre-operative planning and calculations, one may encounter unpredictable outcomes post-phakic IOL implantation. We present a compilation of four such cases and their management.
Method: Records of all patients who underwent phakic IOL implantation in the refractive department of our institute in the past 2 years were reviewed. We included all cases with significant findings in the study.
Result: Out of 4 eyes, one underwent redialing twice and was ultimately explanted to be replaced. Out of the remaining 3 eyes, 1 eye had reverse orientation and required re-surgery. One eye had an extremely high vault, and another had an extremely low vault, which was observed and managed with appropriate surgical intervention, respectively.
Conclusion: Meticulous measurements are integral while planning a phakic IOL procedure.
