FP0354 : Proficiency Assessment of Trained Vision Center Technicians in Neuro-Ophthalmology Disease Screening

Abstract

Study Design: Retrospective observational study Aim: To assess the agreement between the diagnosis made by trained vision center (VC) technicians and neuro-ophthalmologists in patients referred from VC to the Neuro Ophthalmology Clinic. Methods: Case sheet EMR referred from VC to Neuro Ophthalmology OPD for 1 year. We compared the findings of VC technicians in EMR with those of Neuro Ophthalmologist. Data regarding age, sex, clinical history, time between referral and reaching base hospital & diagnosis were collected. Results: 17 VC; 331 referral; Mean age 45 (Range 7 years to 83 years). There was an overall 66% agreement between the diagnosis made by trained VC technicians and neuro ophthalmologists. The agreement was consistent in 195 cases (66%) out of 297 for afferent pathway disorder and in 24 cases (67%) out of 36 for efferent pathway disorder. Conclusion: With better clinical photography, more cases can be assessed accurately through the teleophthalmology platform.
