Abstract
Study Design:
Descriptive
Purpose:
To describe a case with unexpected visual gain post re- trabeculectomy.
Methods:
Snellen's chart for visual assessment, Goldman's Applanation Tonometry and Non contact Tonometry for IOP measurement. A standard trabeculectomy with Mitomycin-C and autograft were performed in an already trabeculectomised eye with IOP refractory to topical antiglaucoma medications.
Results:
Best corrected visual acuity of the operated eye of the patient improved from Finger counting at 2 metres to 6/12.
Conclusion:
Vision loss due to glaucoma which is usually considered irreversible, was modified after trabeculectomy probably as a consequence of significant lowering of chronically elevated pressures.
