Abstract

Study design-This is a retrospective observational study. Purpose-To analyze the incidence, risk factors, management and outcome of intra-operative suprachoroidal hemorrhage in glaucoma surgeries over a 12-year period. Methods-29,972 surgeries including trabeculectomy, combined trabeculectomy and IOL surgery, non penetrating deep sclerectomy (NPDS) and glaucoma drainage device (GDD) surgeries performed between Jan 2010 to Dec 2022 were analyzed for the study. Results-There was a total of 8 (0.027%) cases of suprachoroidal hemorrhage (SCH) among 29,972 glaucoma surgeries during the study period. 6(75%) cases of SCH occurred during combined glaucoma and IOL surgery. The incidence of SCH reduced from 0.027% in 2010 to 0% in 2022. 50% of SCH was noticed after nucleus delivery during combined surgery. The incidence decreased with the increase in NPDS and GDD surgeries. Conclusion-Intraoperative SCH was found to decrease with the increase in safer alternative surgeries for advanced glaucoma
