Abstract
Background – Ultrasound Pachymetry (USP) is the gold standard technique for measuring corneal thickness. Several non contact techniques like orbscan, AS OCT and pentacam also provide corneal thickness.
Aims and objectives – To compare central corneal thickness by USP with that obtained by ASOCT in young adults.
Methodology – Cross sectional comparative study was done in healthy young adults between 18 and 40 years. CCT was measured using ASOCT and USP
Results – 104 eyes of 104 subjects were included of which 62 (59.6%) were females and 42 (40.4%) were males. The mean CCT in microns by pachymetry was 530.355 ± 33.2257, while by AS –OCT was 536.3733 ± 39.0846. Pearson’s correlation analysis was used to assess the strength of correlation between the measurements. The r value was found to be 0.828 (p value <0.001) which indicates that the two methods are comparable.
Conclusion – Study showed good comparison in measurement of CCT by two techniques
