Abstract
Study design – It is an observational study.Purpose-To study a rare case of Retinitis pigmentosa in siblings.
Method-2 cases of retinitis pigmentosa in siblings who came with complaint of diminution of vision with history of consanguineous marriage.1st patient,a 23 years old girl with VA in both eye HMCF & 2nd patient, a 10 year old female with VA right eye 6/24 and left eye 6/60 with no systemic complaints in both patients.BE anterior segment was within normal limits in both patients.They were suspected to have typical retinitis pigmentosa as they had fundus findings of bony specules,waxy disc pallor and arteriolar attenuation.
Conclusion- Retinitis pigmentosa was running throughout family so poor prognosis explained to family and all family members counselled about disease progression. Family screening is crucial to rule out retinitis pigmentosa in other family members since there are many cases of girl siblings of retinitis pigmentosa reported.
